Appearance
Creating a Custom Master Template (Desktop)
What it is: The process of copying an existing Draftworx framework, customising it, and making it available as a selectable template for a subset of client files.
What it's for
A firm may need a slightly different layout or set of disclosures for certain entity types — for example, a specific industry, trust structure, or internal style guide. Rather than modifying each client file individually, the firm can create a custom master template (framework) that is selected when new client files are created, ensuring consistency across those engagements.
How to do it
Step 1 – Copy the framework outside Draftworx
- From the Client List, select the Information button to view the path to the Templates folder.
- Note the path, then close Draftworx.
- Open the Templates folder in Windows Explorer and navigate to the Frameworks subfolder.
- Copy the framework you want to customise.
- Paste the copy into the same Frameworks folder.
- Rename the copied framework to a meaningful name.
Step 2 – Customise the framework in Draftworx
- Open Draftworx and log in with the Manager Password.
- On the Client List, select Frameworks and open the newly copied framework.
- Open the Annual Financial Statements and make the required customisations.
- Save the changes.
Step 3 – Select the custom template for new clients
- When creating a new client file on the Client List, select the custom framework from the Framework drop-down.
Tip: This method creates a firm-level custom template for a few entities. For a template based on an existing client file, see the Clients section article on copying a client file as a master template.
